The Amaranth and Ruby was a hand-written magazine from 1840. The magazine contains fictional prose and was published semi-monthly (or whenever was convenient).

The Comet was a student literary publication containing essays, short stories, and poems. Several of the issues note that it was published by individuals with the initials "J.D.F.", "C.W.F." and "S.G.H." It is probable that these were Haverford students Joseph D. Folwell, Charles William Fisher and Stephen Grellet Hinsdale.

The Compass was a literary magazine from 1835, containing essays about seasons, student adventures, and more.

The Excelsior was a publication created by the Lyceum, a literary society that hosted discussions and readings, founded in 1853. Contents include hand-written poetry and prose on topics such as slavery in the United States, a Jewish legend, Robin Hood, and female influence.

The Havefordian was a long-standing student literary publication founded in the spring of 1879. The Haverfordian published monthly until 1941, over sixty years since its inception. This was the College’s first regularly published literary magazine that eventually became an integral part of student life and creative work.

The Index was a monthly publication issued by Haverford College Grammar School, now the Haverford School. It includes reports of school events, descriptions of athletics, and essays on a variety of topics (many historical) by students.

The Planet was a handwritten magazine published by the Penn Literary Society of Haverford College.

Scarlet and Black was a humor magazine from 1881. Issues contain humorous poetry and short stories.

Senior Comics were a collection of comics published by the Haverford classes of 1892 and 1893 upon their graduation. They include written and visual jokes.

Ampersand was the Bi-College’s main literary magazine from 1978-1982. They published literary and artistic submissions including fiction, poetry, drawings, and photography. Contributors included students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Ampersand was published twice a year and eventually was renamed “Musomania.”

Arroy was a literary magazine that published poetry, prose, drawing, and photography. Arroy accepted submissions from students at Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Philadelphia College of Art. Arroy later became the literary magazine “The Revue.”

The Asian Slant was a literary magazine that published news, poetry, art, essays, and stories about Asian-American student experiences. A 1997 call for submissions stated that in regards to submissions “Anything goes: short stories, poetry, reflections, artwork, jokes, recipes/home remedies, etc.”

The Color Anthology was a Bi-College literary magazine produced by students of color at Haverford and Bryn Mawr College. Issues contain personal stories, fiction, poetry and prose. It also centered the issues of gender, race and ethnicity in the world and on Bryn Mawr and Haverford campuses.

Counterpoint was a Bi-College literary magazine, including both prose and poetry. Beginning with the summer 1949 issue, art and photography were also included. Although the majority of the contributions came from students, most issues featured a few contributions from faculty or those outside the colleges.

Crono Pio was a Spanish-language magazine published by Haverford and Bryn Mawr students. The magazine published literary pieces written in Spanish, mostly prose and poetry.

Dormouse was a literary magazine which included both poetry and prose. Some entries are signed, while others are not. Dormouse described itself as a "democratic/anarchic publication," inviting anyone to write, shape, and edit the publication. Meetings at La Casa Hispanica offered editing, peer review, and the opportunity to shape the publication.

The Haverford Quarto was a literary magazine published in 1947 and 1948. It came out twice a year, publishing fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. They received contributions from a wide range of student writers, and also included contributions from faculty and staff.

The Haverford Review replaced Musomania as the campus literary magazine, and provided an expanded format and higher-quality printing. It began in 1998 with the goal of publishing one issue per semester, but generally published one issue per year. Each issue contains poetry, fiction, and visual art. While early issues were in black and white, later issues included art in color.

The Magazine contains literary articles, both prose and poetry, and student-written news articles. The issue in the College Archives collection specifically talks about the experience of blackness in South Africa in the 1970s.

Musomania was the Haverford campus literary magazine from 1984-1988. It emerged from the literary magazine Ampersand and later became known as the Haverford Review. Each issue contains photography, drawing, poetry, and prose.

Ra was a literary magazine focused on Black writing and art that published poetry, articles, essays, book reviews, photography, children’s plays, short stories, and more. The magazine includes contributions from Bi-College students, alumni, and faculty, as well as written work by famous activists such as W.E.B. Du Bois and members of the Black Panther Party. The text and artwork of both editions explore themes of racism, Blackness, identity, and activism.

A long-running literary magazine. Originally a Haverford publication, The Revue joined with Bryn Mawr in 1956. Each issue of the magazine contains essays, poetry, and fiction, as well as the occasional drawing.

The Stack was a literary magazine that contained poetry, stories, translations, philosophic essays, and hand-lettered advertisements.

The Whip included poetry, short stories, articles, and an extensive limerick section. The writing is mostly vulgar and/or erotic in nature, sometimes relying on sexist or homophobic tropes to create its humor.

The Black was a student satirical publication from the 1920s and 1930s pretending to be a faculty publication. The articles contain fake letters to faculty wives, extracts from faculty meetings, and essays about Haverford.

Issues of the literary circular hats*by*post contain humorous "poems, stories, snapshots, commentary, correspondence, and gripes." Most issues include a “hat-check,” a sort of editorial note addressing readers, as well as a comedic call for submissions for their next issue.

Sensitive Mail was a humor magazine that included humorous articles, letters, advertisements, illustrations, comics and more. The goal of the publication was to add some humor to the "uptight energy" on Haverford campus.

S.H.I.T. was a bi-weekly satirical publication. Each issue contains satirical commentary on current events in Haverford and the wider world.

Without a (noun) was a Haverford satire magazine including short humor pieces and visual pieces, often including collage. Topics were most often related to life at Haverford and Bryn Mawr.

The Bryn Mawr-Haverford Jews was a Bi-College publication aimed at the Jewish students of the two colleges. It promoted Jewish life on campus and featured various Jewish issues.

Zig Zag was an occasional Bi-College newspaper concerned with internal affairs at Haverford and Bryn Mawr College.

Chautauqua was a feminist magazine which featured contributions from Haverford students and well-known authors. Themes of the issues include Feminism 101; The Legacy of the Sixties and Vietnam Today; Quakerism at Haverford: An Empty Word?; The US Constitution and Education in America; and Gender, Race, Ethnicity, Sexual Identity and the Haverford Experience. Issues included, essays, poetry, interviews, comics, and short stories.

Fifth Street Musicians was a Zine featuring commentary on current events and social issues. Each issue includes essays, short stories, and, occasionally, poetry. In addition to this content, there are sections for “Ear to the Ground,” an environmental newsletter; “Prism,” the publication of Haverford's Bisexual, Gay, and Lesbian Alliance (BGALA); and “The Inhuman Corner,” a publication from the Animal Rights Group (ARG). While most content is textual, there are some drawings and cartoons. Later issues also contain reviews.

Foetid was a poetry zine published online and in print. The goal of Foetid was to provide a place where “overly pretentious, poorly written, sophomoric poetry, angst-ridden and soul-felt photographs and other artwork, and prose with long, drawn-out sentences that you think will never end, as if the author had nothing better to do than to write half-assed self-referential claptrap in a futile attempt to try to appear clever, can be published.”

This alternative weekly published articles on social issues at the international, national, state, and local level. Each issue usually contained one or two essays, signed by the authors, and a few announcements. Topics included the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam War, campus free speech demonstrations, and current events in Zanzibar, Guyana (then British Guiana), Kashmir, and Cuba.

A political publication emphasizing the importance of alternative views on Haverford campus. The Partisan was published with the intent to give a platform to “non-leftists and moderates.”

Stone Cold Busted was a social commentary magazine that focused on heavy topics as they related to the Haverford community, such as abortion, racism, assault, gun violence, anti-Semitism, and more. Submissions included essays, poetry, letters, illustrations, and comics.

The Underground was a Bi-College commentary magazine including essays and drawings. The content sometimes responded to essays in previous issues. Essays deal with issues including rape, censorship on campus, and the honor code. Many of the viewpoints expressed could be described as conservative.

This publication is a student guide put together by Haverford and Bryn Mawr College students to orient incoming first-year students to college. The guide includes information on the honor code, Quakerism, academics, dorm life, and campus life.

"Pre-Met"-itations was published every few weeks by the Army Air Forces Technical Training Command (AAFTTC) Training Detachment #26, the Pre-Meteorological Unit. The men were part of an Air Corps unit training and taking classes at Haverford. They referred to themselves as “pre-mets.” Issues of the "Pre-Met" included news about the program and those enrolled, sports reports, humor, drawings, and world news.

Ust Lampe was a German-language magazine created by students studying German under Harry W. Pfund as part of the Language and Area Study Unit. This was a military training unit established at Haverford as part of the Army Specialized Training Program in 1943.
