Special Collections holds issues of over 250 newspapers from the 18th through 20th century, with a focus on New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. We have multiple issues of some papers, and only one of others. Anti-slavery advocay is one of the strngths of the newspaper collections, which includes a number of issues of William Llyod Garrison's The Liberator and the The National Anti-Slavery Standard.
Images were a powerful force within the abolition movement, and were often used as evidence in arguments about the inhumane treatment of slaves. Images mentioned here are seperate images; many of the novels included in the "books" tab are illustrated, and may also contain images.
