WEB-AOD Development

A social work-based methodology for creating an online alcohol and other-drug (AOD) presence for education and support purposes.

ASSURE EVIDENCED-BASED RATIONALE & INTELLECTUAL STANDARDS

Through scientific knowledge utilization, evidenced-based practices, and empirical research, WEB-AOD ventures through a cultural assimilation with science on route to solve critical life problems (Brekke, 2013). Namely, how to educate and support students in obtaining behavioral health education.

Science can be defined as a co-occurring implementation of theory and empirical methods towards focal phenomena (Brekke, 2012).  As the definition implies, science can therefore correspond to a vast variety of topics.   Social Work too covers a wide array of subject matters, deemed a “kaleidoscope” of roles by Busch-Armendariz, Nsonwu, and Heffron (2014). As a theory-based science, social workers may subscribe to one or several frameworks.  These can include an individual or systems scope (Green & McDermott, 2010).
