Resources from Presentation for Unit 2

This is a short tutorial in how to install WordPress from Reclaim Hosting and an example of how a content management system, such as WordPress lets users edit in the user interface and does the coding and work for you to create a complete web page. Below are is the text of the directions (which can be copied if you like).

Unit 2 Reclaim Hosting Word Press instructions:

Log in to Reclaim Hosting
Click on ‘C’ panel in top toolbar
Under ‘Featured Applications’ click on Word Press
Click on ‘Install this Application’
Once it is installed click on your admin link i.e. domain name/wpadmin
Edit posts and pages
Go to the web address for each page and see how your changes are implemented, i.e. yourdomainname.com/about.
You can look at the user interface of WordPress, your completed web page and you can also right-click on your completed web page and select 'view page source' to see the html coding that composes and renders your web page as you see it.

File is currently saved as .txt when you open and download the file, use Notepad and save the file as extension .html (hint: select save as file types all file types in the drop-down menu).

CSS Stylesheet
This is the CSS Stylesheet. Please save the file as .css. Once you download the file to Reclaim Hosting make sure to save it in its own folder titled 'css.'

Example for Unit 2 of How a CMS Works

This is a heading that I made in LibGuides a Content Management System (CMS) through the user interface.

How it works: LibGuides automatically writes the code for you when you are using the user interface, therefore working as your personal content manager. Just click on the source button to the right and you will see the work (coding) that the CMS does for you.
