Finding and (Re)Using Digital Images and Media

Media (Re)Use and Public Scholarship

When scholarship moves out of the classroom and out onto to the public web, finding and reusing images and other media means we need at least a basic understanding of who has permission to republish what content and where. This guide is designed to help you get started, no previous knowledge of US copyright law required.

  • What do I need to know about US copyright law and fair use when it comes to scholarship that might be public?
  • Where can I find images and other media that I already know I have permission to reuse and share?
  • How do I ethically and responsibly cite and acknowledge sources?
