Although AI has the potential to be transformative in many fields, it also raises social justice concerns about the deepening of digital divides, transparency and accountability in decision making, and the erosion of human rights. Such concerns are amplified by the amount of computing power, capital and technical expertise needed for large language model (LLM) tools like generative AI, which also raise concerns about environmental impact and sustainability.
