Unwind at the Libraries (SC)

Whether you're on campus or at home, the Swarthmore libraries have lots to offer! (Swarthmore)

Fiction & Popular Nonfiction

Along with the tons of literature we have on the third floor of McCabe, we also have two additional collections for popular books and audiobooks.

Swarthmore's landing page for OverDrive, a service for e-books and e-audiobooks.

OverDrive
The best resource for popular e-books and audiobooks! From hot bestsellers to GRE and LSAT test prep, our collection of a few hundred titles has something for everyone.

Just getting started? Sign up for an account.

Already have an account? Connect to OverDrive through Tripod to see what's currently available or log in to the Libby app on your phone.

Using a screenreader? Screenreaders work best with OverDrive via a browser.

You can also connect your public library card to your Libby account to expand your selection.

Please note that Libby is only available to current Swarthmore students, faculty, and staff.

A photo of McCabe's popular reading room. There are low shelves on the left hand side of the picture that are filled with books, games, and coloring pages, and magazines on the right hand side on high shelves. There are a few armchairs and a low table with newspapers.

Popular Reading Room

Located on McCabe's first floor, this is the new fiction and popular nonfiction.

If someone already checked out what you want to read, you can place yourself on the waiting list. Search for the title in Tripod, sign into your account, and click "request" to place a hold on the book.

Comics & Graphic Novels

Alumnus Richard Lamb '88 donated over 10,000 comics to McCabe to encourage reading for the sake of pleasure (read the Alumni Bulletin's amazing comic feature on the donation). Check out our guide to the collection or browse the collection in the lounge on the second floor of McCabe, where you'll also find a growing library of zines.
