Students Shape the Shelves: A Library Internship (BMC)

What is Students Shape the Shelves?

Students in a bookstoreStudents Shape the Shelves is a week-long paid internship where six undergraduate students visit local community bookstores and select books to add to Quita's Corner, the Bryn Mawr pleasure reading collection on the main floor of Canaday Library.

Over the course of the week, students learn about how academic libraries, public libraries, and independent bookstores collect and curate books. With this knowledge and a budget (provided by the library), they cooperate to add popular reading material to the Bryn Mawr libraries that reflect diverse voices.

The program is held each year over spring break.
