CiLIS summer workshop May 21-26, 2023

Participants in CiLIS 2019

The purpose of the Careers in Library and Information Science (CiLIS) Program is to introduce students (especially from underrepresented groups) to the field of library and information science, and to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the profession. This is a full-time workshop. You’ll participate in seminars, discussions, and field trips focused on:

  • social justice issues in librarianship
  • career options in the information field
  • archives and special collections

About the 2023 workshop

2023 marks the 4th annual CiLIS workshop

Who: Participants are 2 or 3 students each from Bryn Mawr, Haverford, Lafayette, and Swarthmore Colleges
When: May 21-May 26, 2023
Where: Haverford College

How to Apply

Please send to Jennifer Coval (jcoval@brynmawr.edu) by April 9, 2023

  1. a resume,
  2. a cover letter, and
  3. the name and contact information for one reference, indicating their relationship to you (professor, supervisor, etc.). Make sure you let them know they might be contacted!

Your cover letter should address the following topics:

  • Your reason for applying for this workshop
  • Your experience in libraries, archives, or museums, as a visitor/user or employee. Experiences can be positive and negative.
  • What role you think libraries play in campus culture
  • How your experiences and interests contribute to the field of library work
