Welcome!

Welcome to Haverford College!  I am glad for the chance to introduce your new libraries.

You have access to over 800,000  electronic volumes + over 400,000 print volumes along with films, manuscripts, photographs and more through the Tripod library catalog.  You also can request many volumes from Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore through Tripod.  Use the Haverford libraries' website to learn about services and connect with library staff.

Check out the Quarantine R&R website.  This was made in consultation with ISO staff for students to enjoy a change of pace - music, movies, art, the Philadelphia scene and more.  Send in your recommendations for the Haverford community.

You will find resources, study spaces, and meeting rooms in Lutnick Library (this main building includes Quaker and Special Collections and the Digital Commons), the White Science Library (found in KINSC, with a small additional astronomy library in the Strawbridge Observatory), and the Union Music Library.

The libraries are your spaces.  You can track down sources, learn, study and share ideas.  See these views of students in Lutnick Library.  The library staff is dedicated to supporting your development as researchers and scholars.  Ask us questions and tell us when you run into a problem.  We want you to have every opportunity possible to explore, analyze and reach new levels of understanding.

Accessing Resources

1) Accessing the Libraries' Digital Resources when Off Campus
If you start at this course research guide or the Tripod library catalog, you will be prompted to sign in and authenticate through the Off-campus Access page (Option A below) when you click on an online resource link .

If you plan to work in-depth on a research paper when you are off campus, use VPN software (Option B).  Once you authenticate, you can then connect to resources (with Haverford subscriptions) on the open Web as well as use URLS you have already saved or those sent by faculty and librarians.

   A) Off-campus Access through Tripod
                    Haverford  https://ezproxy.haverford.edu/login
Use your email user name (no @haverford.edu) and password to log on.  You will need to navigate through Tripod, rather than typing URLs in the search box for your entire session.  The proxy prefix has to remain in your URL in order to access digital materials to which Haverford subscribes.

   B) Download VPN software from Campus IT Services
                   Haverford:  https://iitskb.sites.haverford.edu/knowledge-base/installing-the-vpn-client/
When you log into VPN with your email user name (do not add @ brynmawr or haverford.edu) and password, all the subscriptions in Tripod will work even when you go through the Web rather than Tripod.  It is simpler to do in-depth research with VPN rather than the library proxy.

2.  Requesting Resources that are not Available Online in Tripod

Haverford Libraries fulfill student, faculty, and staff requests for materials.  There are no charges for requests nor are there limits on the number of items you can submit.  You can use these forms below to enter your requests.  Articles and other digital material will be sent to your email address.  You will be notified when print copies and other material is ready for you to come and check out.

          Articles or Book Chapters

          Books or DVDs

You will also find these request links on:
Borrow beyond Tripod page   Use the interlibrary Loan link for requesting Books or DVDs
          Database links through the  button
          Library homepage

3.  Accessing Reserves

To see what is on electronic reserves for a particular course, login to Moodle and go to the specific course page.
