Twenty-two scrapbooks of correspondence of Quaker Josiah Woodward Leeds with persons involved in the social reform movements of the late 19th century as well as clippings from newspapers, periodicals and journals of articles and editorials written by Leeds and articles on topics of interest to him.
Leeds specifically discusses capital punishment in volumes 4, 6, 8, and 18.

Leon Kanegis converted to Quakerism; he was a pacifist who wrote about many social issues, including capital punishment.

Leon Thomas Stern (1887-1980) was a noted American penologist and prison reformer. Relevant materials include general materials on capital punishment, as well as the case of Isaiah Green, whose sentence was commuted from death to life in prison.
