ACS Citation Style

Guidelines for references can also be found in the ACS style guide (chapter 14).

In-text references should be numbered with Arabic numerals in the order of their first citation in the text and the corresponding superscripted numbers inserted at the appropriate locations in the text. Citation Managers

Citation managers are tools that keep your citations and articles organized and include a cite while you write feature that allows you to insert citations into your paper and format your bibliography.

Zotero: a free tool that can format your bibliography, keep your citations organized, and even save your articles. See the Tri-College Guide to Zotero for more details. You can add the ACS citation style to Zotero through Document Preferences in the Word add-on.

EndNote Basic: The Tri-Colleges provide free access to EndNote Basic. See the Tri-College Guide to EndNote Basic for more details. Endnote Basic includes the ACS citation style as an option.

I'd be happy to give you a tour or a few pointers of the software.
