If you use an RSS reader, creating an RSS feed for literature alerts is a good alternative to email alerts.
RSS feeds are good for collaboration. Instead of forwarding email alerts from your inbox to colleagues, you can create an RSS feed and share the URL once. You can also create a single RSS feed for all the students in your course to follow. There is no limit to how many people can subscribe to a single RSS feed.
1a. In ProQuest databases, click the Create RSS feed link in the Save search/alert dropdown:
1b. If using Web of Science, click the Create Alert link at the top left of the search results screen. Sign into your account or register if you don't have one. Uncheck E-mail Alerts when prompted and click Save.

2. Follow the database prompts to name and define your feed.
3. Copy the RSS URL. This usually appears in the address bar of your browser window. Paste this URL into your RSS reader to begin receiving updates, or send it to any colleagues with whom you want to share the feed:
