"The Attic Youth Center creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and promotes the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society."

The Mazzoni Center is a health care provider in Philadelphia with services that specifically targets the health needs LGBTQ people. These services include: "primary health care services, mental and behavioral health services, and LGBT legal services, as well as HIV and STD testing, food bank and housing subsidies for families and individuals affected by HIV, support groups, outreach and education programs."

"The William Way Community Center seeks to encourage, support, and advocate for the well-being and acceptance of sexual and gender minorities through service, recreational, educational, and cultural programming."
They have a monthly newsletter available online. They also have events in Philadelphia and archives that can be useful for further research.

"ACT UP stands for the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power. We are a diverse, non-partisan group, united in anger, and committed to ending the AIDS crisis through direct action. Since its inception, ACT UP has used a diversity of direct action tactics to address social inequities that threaten people living with HIV/AIDS and those at risk of infection, both in Philadelphia and around the world. The AIDS pandemic closely follows the fault lines of broader social injustice. We continue to strive to end the AIDS crisis within the context/ through a lens of ending health disparities that are a clear result of inequality and injustice."

"The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country."

The ACLU works on issues like censorship and voting rights as well as LGBT issues within a judicial and legislative framework.

"The Audre Lorde Project is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming People of Color community organizing center, focusing on the New York City area. Through mobilization, education and capacity-building, we work for community wellness and progressive social and economic justice. Committed to struggling across differences, we seek to responsibly reflect, represent and serve our various communities."

Black and Pink is working to end the prison industrial complex and focuses on the impact of prisons on queer and trans people and communities.

"Founded in 1979, CUAV works to build the power of LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) communities to transform violence and oppression. We support the healing and leadership of those impacted by abuse and mobilize our broader communities to replace cycles of trauma with cycles of safety and liberation. As part of the larger social justice movement, CUAV works to create truly safe communities where everyone can thrive."

"FIERCE is a membership-based organization building the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City. We develop politically conscious leaders who are invested in improving ourselves and our communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media. FIERCE is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of social justice movement leaders who are dedicated to ending all forms of oppression."

"Founded in 1980, HRC advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office and educates the public about LGBT issues." Their website also offers plenty of resources, blog posts, and more for LGBT people and allies.

"The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) is a leading international organization dedicated to human rights advocacy on behalf of people who experience discrimination or abuse on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression."

Gender Advocates of Illinois provides this great list of US Transgender Advocacy Organizations, complete with a small description for each one.

"The National Center for Transgender Equality is a national social justice organization devoted to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people through education and advocacy on national issues of importance to transgender people."

Mostly an advocacy organization, the NCTE also has statistics, explanations, and resources relating to transgender issues (including homelessness, recognition, hate crimes, and more).

"SONG envisions a sustainable South that embodies the best of its freedom traditions and works towards the transformation of our economic, social, spiritual, and political relationships. [They] envision a multi-issue southern justice movement that unites people across class, age, race, ability, gender, immigration status, and sexuality; a movement in which LGBTQ people – poor and working class, immigrant, people of color, rural – take [their] rightful place as leaders shaping our region’s legacy and future. [SONG is] committed to restoring a way of being that recognizes our collective humanity and dependence on the Earth."

QTC has an annual conference in the spring as well as a series of events throughout the year that address queer and trans issues and perspectives that are typically excluded from more mainstream gay and lesbian organizing. The conference is student-run, free, and open to the public. These events are a wonderful way to engage with these conversations on campus.

"The Sylvia Rivera Law Project works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence."

Aside from publishing the book "Trans-Kin," this group also provides workshops, presentations, resources, links, and a list of organizations for trans people and their kin.
