DANC 020/EDUC 020 Foundations of Dance Education

"Dance Education in Practice considers articles for publication focused on practical approaches to dance education and teaching that provide educators with models of new ideas, strategies, and content they can apply to their own practice. Targeted toward dance studio teachers, P-12 dance educators, postsecondary teacher education professionals, teaching artists, and dance education undergraduate and graduate students, the journal welcomes contributions that may include cross-curricular projects, standards-based models of teaching and learning, innovations in teaching technique, technological applications to dance teaching, assessment strategies, world cultures curricula, addressing needs of diverse learners through dance, professional issues, and advocacy. Articles will be concise (1000-3000 words) and communicate innovative ideas in a "how to" format. Graphics and pictures will support article content."

Official publication of the National Dance Education Organization. "The Journal of Dance Education publishes original articles on topics related to the practical and theoretical aspects associated with dance education. Articles considered for publication in the journal should emphasize professional issues concerned with all aspects of teaching dance and dance education. JoDE aims to present new knowledge and rigorous scholarship about perennial and current issues in order to improve the quality and integrity of dance teaching and learning. JoDE seeks contributions from a broad range of international researchers, scholars, and practitioners using a variety of research frameworks and methods. Types of topics within the journal include but are not limited to: training of dancers, curriculum, pedagogy, teaching methodology, best practices, standards, assessment, dance administration, collaboration, creativity, dance advocacy, social justice issues, historical and cultural contexts, choreography, technology, online learning, dancers with different abilities, and integrated and interdisciplinary dance studies."

The journal is relevant to dance academics, teachers and learners. The journal includes contributors from a wide and diverse, international community of researchers. The journal encourages a wide range of research approaches and methods, in a forum for debate. Issues related to pedagogy, philosophy, sociology and methodology in relation to creating, performing and viewing dance in various contexts are welcome. The role and value of dance as part of arts education and the connections with other arts practitioners is also supported."
