Using Reference Lists and "Cited By" Lists

When you find one good article, follow the leads from that article in two ways:

1. Backward. This means looking through the list of references at the end of the article and finding some of those sources to read yourself. If the author cites a book or book chapter, look in Tripod (try the Browse search). If the author cites an article, try finding it using Google Scholar. 

2. Forward. This means looking for articles/chapters written since the article was published that cite your good article. This is super useful! In Google Scholar, look up your good article and click on Cited By beneath the article info to see the list of citing articles. Other databases also offer this service, but not as comprehensively as Google Scholar.
