Use Tripod to find books held by the TriCollege libraries. You can request books from the other TriCo schools and have them delivered to Swarthmore.

Strategize Your Search
Make sure you find relevant materials, and save yourself time and effort by planning your search rather than just trying different keywords. Check the "Search Tips" tab for help planning a smart search.

Limit by Language

If you're looking for specifically French-language sources, you can limit your search by language by going to the Language tab on a Tripod search.

Use One Good Book to Find Others

When you've located a relevant book, there are several strategies you can use to find additional related works.

Search by the subject headings you find in the book's Tripod record--this will help you find other books on the same topic, classified with the same subject heading.
Consult the book's bibliography and use Tripod and library databases to track down some of the sources that author cited.

Gallica is a digital library of French and francophone culture maintained by the Bibliothque nationale de France. Contains numerous electronic texts, images, maps, animation, and sound files of French and other publications in history, literature, science, philosophy, law, economics, and political science. Covers the Middle Ages to the present.

Borrowing Beyond the Tri-Co
Request items that are not available in Tripod through E-ZBorrow or Interlibrary Loan. Note that E-Z Borrow is the first place to look for books not in Tripod. It usually takes just three days for E-Z Borrow books to arrive. Books not in E-Z Borrow can come from Interlibrary Loan (ILL) which may take as little as four or five days to arrive.

For journal articles not available in the three colleges, use the Article Delivery form. In around 3 days you will receive a digital copy of the requested articles in your email.
