Tripod: The library's catalog

Mechanisms

To find books, conduct either a relevant keyword search or subject search in Tripod:

    Keyword Search:

         e.g., Lou Gehrig's Disease

   Or Subject Search:

         e.g., Malaria > Immunological aspects

Social Determinants

Keep in mind that “social aspects” is a subheading that can be used in a subject search. In Tripod, try searching for your disease and the term "social aspects", then change the drop down box to “subject” to perform the subject search.

For example:

Representations

You can use Tripod to find items in the Tri-College Libraries or WorldCat (for other libraries).  If an item is unavailable in Tripod, you can request a copy through interlibrary loan.

In either catalog, you can search by keyword or subject headings (to find items on a topic—not just items in which a keyword appears).  Sample subject headings include:

You can also use these databases to identify other creative works that explore this topic. Try words such as literature, fiction, poetry, memoir, narratives, film, drama, and pictorial works.

See the "Website and Other Online Sources" tab for more!

How do I find the books?

When you find a book in Tripod, check the locations to see which library it's in.

If the book is only available at Haverford or Swarthmore,  SIGN IN, then REQUEST to have the book delivered to Bryn Mawr! You'll receive an email when it arrives, usually in 24 hours.

How do I find where the book is shelved at Bryn Mawr?

Look at the book's "call number" to find its location.

Book locations are listed here.

How are the call numbers arranged on the shelf?

Materials are shelved by the "Library of Congress" call number classification system. If you need help locating a book, please ask at the  Circulation desk!

What do I do if my book is checked out?
If the book is listed as "out of library" it may be checked out.  You can request a copy from outside the TriCollege Libraries by using EZ-Borrow / Interlibrary Loan.

How to Get Books & Articles Not in Tripod
