If you want to get a book or journal article that is not available on our campus, you will need to use InterLibrary Loan (ILL).
Tri-College ILL - BOOKS: If you want a book from Bryn Mawr or Haverford, simply click on the REQUEST link next to the check-out date on the book's Tripod screen. Enter your name & barcode, and select WHERE you want to pick up the book. Delivery takes approximately one day library to library.
Non-Tri-College ILL - BOOKS: For books NOT available in Tripod, try EZ Borrow to request books directly from nearby Pennsylvania & NJ libraries. Books usually arrive within a few days and must be picked up at McCabe (you will get an email notification when the book as arrived). If the book is not available via EZ Borrow, try regular InterLibrary Loan. (Use WorldCat to get complete book information - the Find It! button on the Worldcat screen will fill out the ILL form for you! Simply add your name & barcode record at the top of the screen).
JOURNAL ARTICLES: For articles in journals not available at Swarthmore, use the online ILL form. The Find IT! button will populate the ILL form for you if you come across an article you need that is in a journal to which we don't subscribe. All you need to do is fill in your name and barcode number!
Google Scholar Tip: Before you request an article from InterLibrary Loan, copy & paste the full title into the GS search box. Use QUOTES around the title, so it is searched as a PHRASE. Through Google Scholar you can often find full-text articles even though we don't subscribe to them! Look for access to PDFs in the right column, or search through "all x versions" and you will often come across the PDF of the article!
