This index is published three times a year. It contains citations with abstrasts (summaries) to articles appearing in journals. To find articles on your passages, use the "Index of Scripture Texts" which is located at the end of the third issue of each volume. [Note that some of the bound books contain two volumes, so you will need to check two indexes in these books]. In the index the numbers following the scriptural text refer to entry numbers not page numbers. Often the journal name in a citation is abbreviated. If you do not recognize the journal name, turn the "Periodicals Abstracted" section at the end of the volume where the full titles of journals are listed.
This database indexes religious studies journals. While it usually does not have abstracts (summaries) of the articles it often links to the full text of the article. Types of useful searches are keyword, subject, and scripture passage.
To search a particular passage select the "Scriptures" tab at the middle of the top toolbar. Then next to the Biblical book that you want to search select [expand]. Then you can click on a particular chapter to bring up all of the citations that discuss that chapter or probably more useful you can click on [expand] which will allow you to search by a specific verse within the chapter.
When doing either a keyword or subject search one way to limit your results to a more useful set of articles is to limit by book of the Bible. So for example a possible search could be 'Slavery' and 'Exodus'.
