Study carrels and spaces in the libraries

Carrels in canaday

A limited number of study carrels in Canaday are available to Bryn Mawr College community members.

321-322

Students may apply for carrels starting on the following dates, depending on their college affiliation:

  • August 18: McBrides and undergraduate students who reside off campus
  • September 1: seniors and graduate students
  • October 1: all other interested students

Small rooms called prelim exam carrels and video viewing carrels can be booked online ahead of time, or patrons can borrow a key at the circulation desk if the space isn't booked.

Carrels in Carpenter

Carpenter Library has 101 carrels (desks) for use by graduate students and undergraduate seniors majoring in Cities, History of Art, Classical & Near Eastern Archaeology, and Greek, Latin and Classical Studies.

Due to the limited number of carrels, undergraduates are required to share carrels. Carrels are assigned by lottery.

As of October 1, any unassigned carrels may be requested by non-Carpenter majors and graduate students.

If you need a particular carrel due to the symptoms of a disability, please first speak with Access Services by contacting at accessservices@brynmawr.edu.

To request a carrel, complete this carrel request form. Contact Laura Surtees with questions.
