Develop Your Own Search Strategy

Using your textbook, lecture material, or Google, find one reliable source (popular or scholarly) and one review article on a topic in the neuroscience of learning and memory that you're curious about.

  1. Note the title and url.

  2. Using ideas from that source, write one possible research question.

  3. What are the two or three main concepts in your research question?

  4. Using those main concepts, conduct an initial search in PubMed or Web of Science and scan the titles, abstracts, and assigned keywords/subject terms.

  5. Refine your research question, if necessary.

  6. Add synonyms, acronyms, and variant spellings to your search strategy.

  7. Find one primary research article and one review article. Be prepared to describe your process.
