Key Research Tools
JSTOR
Find articles from scholarly journals and chapters from books published by university presses. Typically you can't find articles from the last 3-5 years in JSTOR. For more recent articles, try Web of Science, Tripod, or ProQuest.
Web of Science
Find articles from scholarly journals. Use the Topic search to find more relevant results. Offers more filtering options than Google Scholar. Includes citation counts, so you can see how widely cited an article is.
Tripod Library Search
Search Tripod Books & Media to find scholarly books on your topic. (Use filters on the left side of results to narrow down by Date, Region, and other criteria.)
ProQuest Social Sciences
Searches academic journals in the social sciences. Gives you more filtering options than Google Scholar.
HeinOnline
Searches law journals and US government documents
Publications
Use Tripod Journal Search to check if Swarthmore has access to a specific publication. You can look through Browzine to see most of the journals we subscribe to, organized by subject. (example: political science journals)
Swarthmore has an institutional subscription to Foreign Affairs. You have unlimited access on-campus. (If you're off-campus, use the link here or in Tripod so you'll connect through Swarthmore.)
