Join the Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Join us for an Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Monday March 26 from 11am-2pm in Dalton 119. This event is designed to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia and encourage female editorship. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female. This lack of female participation has led to an alarming dearth of content about women and art in the world's most popular online research tool. Let's keep making a difference!

Why we edit?
Why do we edit?
Wikimedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity, however, is not. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.
Let’s change that. Join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, and art+feminism inspired refreshments}. Bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate.
