What's a database?

Scholarly article databases (like JSTOR or Proquest) are specialized websites for finding articles published in academic journals.

When you find an article that looks interesting, look for a full-text PDF link or logo. If there is no "full text" link or you're asked to pay for the article, look for the button. The FindIt button lets you find the article through the Swarthmore Libraries' journal subscriptions.

Still can't get it? Try placing a journal article request. Our ILL staff can often get you the article by email within a few days.

Proquest Research Library is a database that lets you search through many academic journals at once. Unlike JSTOR, it includes the most recent 3 years of articles published, so it's great for recent cases.

Large database with journal articles from many different journals and academic disciplines. NOTE: does *not* include the past 3 years of articles, generally, so less useful for recent cases.
